New Blues is a jazzy theme and variations for solo harp. The variations are based on a "twelve bar blues" form. As in many jazz arrangement, the theme is played at the beginning of the piece, then there are a set of variations and after the variations, the theme returns with a "tag" or a "turnaround", the standard short "cadenza" found at the end of many jazz arrangements.
Book includes two versions one for lever harp in C the other for lever harp in Eb. Either can be played on pedal harp. The variations in New Blues for Eb harp are based on a twelve-bar blues in F, and the variations in the version for C harp are based on a twelve-bar blues in G.
