The Allegro in G can be played by students who have studied the second and third volume of Early start on the violin. It belongs to Violinmasterclass Grade Level 2.

This piece can be played entirely in first position. In some passages in thes edition, when other possitions are possible or advantageous, optionals fingerings are written below the staff. All fingerings above the staff use first position only.

Skills required for this work:

  • Left hand: 1st position with all finger patterns, 2nd and 3re position are optional
  • Right hand: Détaché, legato
  • Rhythms: Eight and sixteenth notes

The Fiocco Allegro is often the student's first virtuoso work. The long sixteenth note passages require systematic practicing and good memorization, the string crossings are challenging, and the piece can be played quite fast. The metronome tempi can range from MM = 66-88 for the quarter note. The piece is very popular and effective in student recitals.
