An Eternal Journey (Score & parts)

Description

An Eternal Journey is a musical tribute to our planet Earth, its beauty, strength, fragility, and equilibrium. The music is inspired by the four elements:
water, fire, air and earth and follows these through four distinct paintings: Rippling Water, Racing Flames, Shaping Clouds and Remembering
Earth.
The piece begins with the calm atmosphere of a lake. The music illustrates its smooth surface which progressively begins to undulate. The notes
flow until they reach the main theme of the piece, majestic and melancholic, describing this fragile oasis of peace.
Then a rapid transition leads to the second painting, restless and unpredictable. This music imitates the spread of a forest fire around the lake, the
flames dancing frantically and tirelessly. The main theme is distorted and becomes mischievous and mocking. It resounds again at the end of the
movement, gigantic and dramatic, like the fire engulfing the forest.
Under the heat of the flames, the water turns into steam and flies up to the sky, giving way to the third painting. This movement symbolizes the
wind playing with the clouds, making them change shape imperceptibly. The brass instruments unfold long chords like vaporous sheets while the
woodwinds twirl around them. The clouds gradually gather under the influence of the wind to form an immense sound mass, bringing rain at the
end of the movement.
The water returns to the earth, and the fourth and final painting begins. The first bars represent the roots and seeds deeply asleep below the
surface of the ground. Awakened by the water seeping in and nourished by the fertilizing ashes of the fire, the seeds hatch, return to the surface,
and, accompanied by a triumphant hymn to life, finally blossom. Thanks to the restored vegetation, the lake regains its tranquility and the very last
measures bring back the peaceful atmosphere of the beginning. The cycle can begin anew. The eternal journey continues…
