Celebrated as the “King of the Violin”, Eugène Ysaÿe influenced modern violin playing like few others. A pupil of Vieuxtemps and Wieniawski, he was also a composer who combined technical brilliance with profound expression in his works. With his arrangement of the “Étude en forme de Valse” by Camille Saint-Saëns, Ysaÿe accomplished the feat of transforming a piano etude into a scintillating masterpiece of violin literature. No wonder that in this form it is today much more famous than the original! This edition is based on the Parisian first edition by Durand from 1901.
